In early 2017, Can Cava Pintxos & Wine opened its doors on the bustling corner of Hall St & Glenayr Ave. Bondi Beach finally has its own pintxos bar!
Pintxos, as a concept, can be difficult to define. Historically, the humble pintxos consisted of small portions of food served on bread with a toothpick through the middle but has since evolved into a sophisticated selection of experimentos gastronomicos!
At Can Cava , our mission is simple – to create a modern range of delicious, multi bite size dishes inspired by the original pintxos artisans. The fusion has resulted in a menu with a focus on fresh produce, clean flavours & herbs and spices from faraway places. The pintxos are all unique, carefully constructed & designed to be eaten individually. Our tablas – tasty boards of Spanish cheese & charcuterie – on the other hand, are made for sharing.
Whether you are looking for a remake of one of the classics; goats cheese croquettes or zucchini tortilla or something more contemporary; like tuna tartare or pork belly & chorizo – our dynamic Head Chef Jon Cowan (ex The Lodge) has considered every bite with creativity & a desire to please.
In the Basque country – pintxos are enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere between friends over a cold beverage or two. Things are no different Bondi, so we’ve selected a tidy list of Spanish wines & cava’s, Estrella Damm draught, vermouth spritzers & our homemade sangria – to help you on your journey.
